Victron SolidSwitch 104

Victron SolidSwitch 104: Reliable Solid-State DC Load Control

The Victron SolidSwitch 104 is a highly efficient solid-state relay engineered to switch DC loads of up to 70V and 4A. Designed for precision and reliability, it allows you to control higher-power circuits using a low-power digital signal. Whether you are integrating it into a comprehensive battery management system or upgrading an off-grid solar setup, this compact unit offers dependable performance for a wide range of complex DC applications.

Seamless Control for Diverse DC Loads

One of the primary advantages of a solid-state design over a traditional mechanical relay is the absence of moving parts, which eliminates contact wear and arcing. The Victron Solid Switch 104 excels at managing various electrical demands and is fully compatible with resistive, capacitive, and inductive loads. This makes it an ideal solution for driving the coil of a high-power contactor, functioning as a starter relay kill switch, or integrating with a voltage sensing switch to automate load disconnects in sophisticated power systems.

By utilising a low-power control signal, the SolidSwitch significantly reduces the electrical strain on your primary control circuits, such as a BMS (Battery Management System) or a central programmable logic controller. This is especially useful in 12V, 24V, or 48V battery architectures where precise load management is critical for system longevity.

Compact Design and Straightforward Installation

Space is often at a premium in marine, automotive, and off-grid electrical enclosures. The Victron SolidSwitch 104 features a highly compact form factor, measuring just 58mm in total width, 56.4mm in height, and an ultra-slim 22.8mm depth.

Wiring is simplified through a robust four-pin green pluggable screw terminal block, which provides secure connections for the battery positive, load, remote high signal, and battery negative. Furthermore, the unit includes dual mounting slots for stable horizontal or vertical surface installation. A built-in status LED indicator provides immediate visual feedback on the device’s operational state, streamlining troubleshooting and system monitoring.

Important Technical Considerations

When integrating the Victron SolidSwitch 104 into your electrical network, professional wiring practices are essential. Please note that this specific Victron relay is not reverse polarity protected and is not short circuit proof. Installers must ensure correct wiring polarity and implement appropriate inline fusing to protect both the SolidSwitch and the connected load from accidental short circuits or power surges. Proper circuit protection will ensure the long-term reliability of your load management system.
