Victron 100A ET112 Single Phase Energy Meter

Victron ET112 Single Phase Energy Meter: Precision Monitoring for GX and ESS Systems

Accurate 100A Direct-Connect Meter for Grid, PV, and Generator Applications

The Victron ET112 Energy Meter (part number REL300100000) is a compact, DIN-rail mounted device engineered for precise single-phase energy measurement in Victron Energy ecosystems. Designed and manufactured by Carlo Gavazzi to Victrons specifications, this meter provides real-time data on grid import/export, PV inverter output, or AC generator performance, making it an essential component for Energy Storage Systems (ESS) and advanced energy management.

With a direct connection range up to 100A, the ET112 eliminates the need for external current transformers, simplifying installation and reducing potential points of failure. Its RS485 Modbus RTU interface ensures seamless integration with Victron GX devices, such as the Color Control GX or Cerbo GX, via wired USB or wireless Zigbee connections.

Key Applications

• Grid Meter for ESS: Enables precise control of grid feed-in and consumption, optimising self-consumption and battery charging strategies.
• PV Inverter Monitoring: Measures AC output from solar inverters, providing visibility into total system production.
• AC Genset Measurement: Monitors generator output for reliable backup power management.

Why the ET112 Matters for Your Energy System

In a Victron ESS, accurate energy data is critical. The ET112 acts as the systems eyes on the grid connection point, allowing the GX controller to make intelligent decisions about when to charge batteries, feed power back to the grid, or draw from the grid. Without a reliable meter, an ESS cannot effectively balance loads, leading to inefficient energy use or unexpected grid draw. The ET112s Class 1 active energy accuracy (0.5% RDG for current/voltage) ensures your system operates with the precision needed for optimal performance.

Compared to generic energy meters, the Victron ET112 offers native integration with the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal and local GX interface, providing a unified view of all energy flows without complex configuration. Its dual RJ45 RS485 ports allow for daisy-chaining or flexible wiring topologies, while the frontal optical port enables quick configuration via the Carlo Gavazzi UCS software.

Installation and Connectivity

The ET112 mounts on a standard 35mm DIN rail and occupies only 1 module width (35mm), saving valuable enclosure space. Connection to a GX device is straightforward:

• Wired: Use the Victron RS485 to USB interface cable (available in 1.8m or 5m lengths), extendable up to 100 metres with twisted-pair wiring.
• Wireless: Add a Zigbee module for cable-free communication, ideal for retrofit installations.

Wiring for grid metering requires the meter to be placed at the service entrance, while PV or generator measurement is done at the inverter or genset output. The GX device automatically detects the ET112 and allows you to assign its role (Grid Meter, PV Inverter, or Generator) through the intuitive menu.

Built for Reliable, Long-Term Operation

The ET112 is designed for indoor use in temperatures from -25C to +65C, with a robust IP20-rated housing that protects against dust and accidental contact. Its self-powered design draws minimal energy (1.0 W, 8 VA) from the measured circuit, ensuring it doesnt impact your systems efficiency. The meter also includes a digital input for tariff management, allowing you to track energy usage across two different rate periods.

Take Control of Your Energy Data

Whether youre commissioning a new Victron ESS, retrofitting an existing solar installation, or adding generator monitoring, the Victron ET112 provides the accurate, real-time data you need to maximise self-consumption and reduce grid dependence.
