Exotronic 20A 2-Pole DC Circuit Breaker (MCB)

High-Performance 600V Double Pole DC Circuit Breaker for Solar PV Systems

Safeguard your photovoltaic and battery storage infrastructure with this robust double pole DC breaker, engineered specifically for the demands of direct current environments. Designed for caravan, marine, industrial and off-grid PV systems. These circuit breakers provide essential protection against overcurrents and short circuits, this miniature circuit breaker (MCB) ensures that your off-grid, marine, or caravan electrical systems operate with maximum safety and reliability. Featuring a 20A current rating capacity, it is perfectly sized to protect specific DC load requirements while maintaining stable power flow.

Advanced Arc Fault and Overcurrent Protection

Direct current circuits present unique challenges compared to standard alternating current, particularly when it comes to extinguishing electrical arcs during a fault. Utilizing sophisticated thermo-magnetic trip technology, this DC circuit breaker is explicitly designed to detect and safely interrupt harmful DC arcs up to 600V. By swiftly disconnecting the circuit during an overload or short circuit, it significantly mitigates the risk of cable damage, electrical fires, and catastrophic equipment failure. This makes it an indispensable safety device for 12V, 24V, and 48V battery systems, as well as high-voltage solar arrays.

Non-Polarised Design for Safer, Simpler Installation

A major advantage of this specific solar MCB is its non-polarised architecture. Traditional polarised breakers require strict adherence to current flow direction, which can lead to dangerous failures if wired incorrectly or if reverse currents occur during complex battery charging cycles. The non-polarised nature of this breaker eliminates the risk of directional wiring errors, allowing safe bidirectional current flow. This simplifies the installation process for both professional auto-electricians and off-grid enthusiasts while drastically reducing potential safety hazards.

Key Features

• 20A rated capacity to suit your specific array or battery load specifications
• Non-polarised internal design safely handles bidirectional current without risking internal damage
• 6kA short-circuit breaking capacity (Ics/Icu) ensures reliable interruption of severe electrical faults
• 6kV impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) provides exceptional resilience against system surges
• Standard DIN rail compatibility allows for rapid, secure mounting in standard electrical enclosures
• Clear visual status indicators confirm isolation state at a glance for safe maintenance

Built Tough for Demanding Environments

Constructed with high-quality, flame-retardant thermoplastic, this 2 pole DC circuit breaker is designed to meet strict IEC/EN 60947-2 standards. It features a Pollution Degree 3 rating, meaning it is built to withstand the ingress of dust and moisture commonly experienced in demanding Australian applications, including remote off-grid sheds, camper trailers, and marine engine bays. The secure tunnel terminals ensure excellent cable retention, minimizing resistance and preventing the development of dangerous hot spots over the lifespan of your installation.
