Keep your DSLR kit as portable as possible, with this pancake style Canon 40mm f2.8 STM lens. Ideal for travellers, the 40mm f2.8 is less than 1-inch thick, so it is not only comfortable to carry around, but it can also hide nicely under your jacket as you navigate bustling streets. The 40mm focal length extends to a 64mm equivalent when mounted on APS-C format cameras, making it ideal for portraiture, as well as walk-around snapshots. With its Stepping Motor AF system, this lens delivers a fast and near-silent form of autofocus, great for discrete snapshots, as well as making the most of the high-resolution video that your Canon EOS DSLR has to offer.

The portable and user-friendly Canon 40mm f2.8 STM lens is for the travelling photographer, as well as the photographer who takes his camera everywhere. At less than 1-inch thick, this lens provides your DSLR with an unassuming quality, which is of some deterrent to would-be thieves, while it also is easy to hide under your jacket as you make your way through foreign cities. On full-frame cameras the 40mm focal length is perfect for travel and everyday snapshots, as it is just shy of a normal length, while on APS-C format cameras the 64mm equivalent is perfect for portraits, thanks to its added reach. The f2.8 maximum aperture may seem only modest, but it lets in enough light to keep you shooting in darker conditions, particularly when compared to your standard zoom lens.

The STM AF system of this lens is great for modern DSLRs and their users, with its fast, quiet and smooth AF being suitable, not just for still shooting in varied environments, but also for HD video, which is no doubt part of your shooting repertoire. An Aspherical element has been included in the optical construction of this lens, reducing distortions and chromatic aberration, as well as heightening sharpness and clarity. Canons Super Spectra coating has been applied, producing images with notable contrast and colour accuracy, as well as limiting ghosting and flare.
