Morningstar EcoBoost MPPT 40amp Solar Charge Controller

Advanced Solar Energy Management for Mobile and Off-Grid Systems

The Morningstar EcoBoost 40A MPPT Solar Charge Controller serves as the central intelligent hub for photovoltaic DC electrical systems up to 1120W. Engineered to deliver exceptional value and dependable performance, this advanced unit automatically detects 12V or 24V system configurations, making it highly adaptable for a wide range of battery charging applications. By ensuring batteries reach a complete state of charge, the controller significantly extends battery life and maintains long-term system health.

Maximise Energy Harvest with TrakStar Technology

At the core of this charge controller is Morningstar’s proprietary TrakStar Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology. Standard solar controllers often lose efficiency during variable weather conditions, but TrakStar technology rapidly determines and adjusts to the true maximum power point as solar insolation changes throughout the day. This results in highly efficient power conversion at low, medium, and high power levels, ensuring that your system extracts every available watt of solar energy from the PV array. This efficiency translates to faster charging times and more reliable power availability for your critical loads.

Sophisticated Load and Lighting Control

Beyond highly efficient battery charging, the EcoBoost operates as a sophisticated DC load controller. Effectively managing your DC power consumption is crucial in off-grid environments. The controller features a programmable load disconnect function that actively protects your battery bank from damaging over-discharge events. This active management is essential for preserving the longevity of expensive battery setups. Furthermore, an integrated lighting controller utilises the solar array itself as a sensor to automatically switch loads at dusk and dawn, offering an elegant solution for automated perimeter or security lighting.

Built for Extreme Reliability and Convenience

Morningstar has engineered this unit with a rugged, maintenance-free design tailored for demanding environments. The conformally coated circuit board and corrosion-resistant terminals provide robust protection against moisture and environmental degradation, making it suitable for marine applications, remote cabins, and mobile setups like caravans and RVs. Continuous self-diagnostics monitor system health and report any operational errors through clear, easy-to-read status LEDs, mitigating the risk of undetected system failures.

For added modern convenience, the front panel features two integrated USB ports with a shared charging capacity of 3 amps. This allows users to power small DC loads or charge smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices directly from the solar controller without requiring a separate inverter.
